What is Nologin Linux?

Nologin Linux is usually used to refuse the login attempt in this operating system. This command is the only way to disable login on Linux device. This method is usually used by various system services which require an account. But, they do not make security issues. Linux Nologin shows the message that a certain account exists on zero and not available.

How to Add New User in Linux Login?

  • Login as root.
  • Use useradd “user’s name” command.
  • Use the name of the new user.
  • Click on Exit.

nologin(8) uses /etc/nologin.txt as an optional source for a non-default message, the login access is always refused independently of the file. pam_nologin(8) PAM module usually prevents all non-root users from logging into the system. pam_nologin(8) functionality is controlled by /var/run/nologin or the /etc/nologin file.
